Hey Rad Rev Girls,
This month, we’ll be covering the topic of family.Our families are often the only ones that get to see us at both our best and our worst. They laugh and cry with us and cheer us on at our games and competitions.
But if you’re not close with your family, that’s OK, too. Sometimes, relationships with family are complicated. Sometimes, they’re a little bit broken. Sometimes, our family tree doesn’t look quite like everyone else’s.
Jesus didn’t come from a perfect family tree either (just check out Matthew 1 or Luke 3!). His ancestors included David the guy who messed up big time by sleeping with Uriah’s wife then killing him to cover it up. Rahab, the prostitute who protected two Jewish spies and saved her whole family in the process.
Regardless of how your family tree looks, you’re a part of God’s family tree. Romans 8:15 tells us that we are ‘adopted’ into God’s family as His sons and daughters.
“…you received God’s Spirit when he adopted you as his own children. Now we call him, “Abba, Father.”
Since God has adopted you, you are His girl. Even if your earthly parents have rejected you or ignored you, you are still wildly loved by God. He still calls you His precious daughter and He will always love you.
